Far from the Fourth
After an enormous week of work at RMBL, Marilyn and I headed out into the woods for our first Fourth of July weekend away from 209 Whiterock and the Town of Crested Butte in general in over 15 years. We camped in Magg on Friday night after a filling fish fry at the Endners Dining Hall in Gothic near a beaver pond and lodge landscape near the snow plug on Gothic road above Emerald Lake. Saturday, Sunday and Monday we backpacked up on to the White/Whiterock Mountain massif and camped among the elk of the Elk Range.
We were able to see Mt CB and the town below us at all times thinking how fun it was to ‘spy’ on the everybody from (way to far to see anything) up there. After making an attempt at White and Whiterock we opted for a lower adventure through Jamie Basin due to the few darker clouds that threatened but never followed through. Plus we had to save some energy to hike up to our vantage point for the fireworks later Sunday night.
Happy Fourth of July. K&M
